Introducing… PRepping for the Professional World

Welcome! PRepping for the Professional World is a blog all about entering the sometimes daunting world of PR. I’m going to focus my posts around one of my favorite fields, lifestyle PR. Some people may wonder what ‘lifestyle’ includes and I really like the definition that Alexis Rodriguez, of The PR Closet, shared:

Well, first define the term “lifestyle” in general, which means a certain way a person lives, or the style in which they live their lives. It can be below, within, or above their means, so lifestyle PR usually covers all of the things that people aspire to have to acheive or maintain a certain lifestyle. That can include fashion, beauty, travel, accessories, food, fitness, and other luxury goods like cars, fine jewelry, personal trainers, etc. So a lifestyle brand will meet the needs of a consumer with multiple product offerings. Diane von Furstenberg is a good example of a lifestyle brand because she offers not only beautiful clothes, but also jewelry, swimwear, shoes, handbags, luggage, makeup, and accessories. A lifestyle PR firm will represent these types of lifestyle brands or multiple categories of brands that together equal a lifestyle.

This blog will focus on tips for working in PR, examine popular campaigns, and feature Q & A’s with PR pro’s. I hope that readers will gain a better understanding of public relations and the lifestyle PR industry as well as put some of their nerves as ease.
